Finding Nemo

Home is a place. It’s a feeling. And It’s a sense of knowing. By definition, home is a physical location where you reside permanently as a member of the household. I left my permanent residence on June of 2023 and embarked on a new journey to redefine what and where home is for me.

In some way, I feel like Nemo (the little orange fish that could). Nemo is sponky, curious, open to the world but also has a bit of an ailment. Yet he never let his imperfection stop him from being himself. Nemo ventured out and became a bit lost from his pack. Without him knowing, his pack was helping him to find his way home from afar. Nemo never skipped a bit. He got turned around a few times but just kept swimming. He swam with and against the current. He came up against obstacles that deterred his path. He was scared at one point but still kept swimming. Eventually, Nemo found his way home and was reunited with his pack.

The search for home comes with an open mind and an open heart. I was Nemo for the past 457 days. I felt lost with no direction and no sense of where home was. All in all, I knew I needed to pivot and be okay with saying I needed help. My pack, my family, helped me to find myself each and every day from miles away. With open arms they excepted my flaws and allowed me to express and explore. Finding home was not easy, then again, it’s not supposed to be.

So, it’s official. After 457 days of swimming and finding home. I am officially a Georgia peach. Hello ATL, I’m home and ready to live out my manifestations out loud.

Signed,

Finding Nemo

I love this dress. It is 2 sizes to big but iIkinda like it that way. Love the ease of this dress and how it flows in the wind and lays on my body. When I saw this dress I thought it was too weird to even consider, so I left it on the rack but kept thinking about ways to style it. The pattern mixing, the slight oversized look, the low v neck and high slit all come together and makes me feel so effortlessly beautiful.

This dress is from Asos and I got it on sale. It’s a great piece to wear to end the Summer and welcome the fall months. Though it does not work for fall due to the material and the color way, it works for right now when the mornings are 63 degrees but the afternoon and evenings are 83 degrees. A great balance and end of season item to help you transition into a new season.
